Decorating living room...?

Hi everyone, I'm decorating my living room and have decided on wall paper, but would like peoples opinion. Its a very big living room as the back half used to be the kitchen but got knocked into one large living room. We have decided to do 2 walls in this paper http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/Coloured-Wallpaper/K2-Starburst-Wallpaper-Plum-10440/invt/0277098?htxt=pd7oFr0lQXt0zAhwWzfWeHMLQbwyUbQ%2BNPkCwOz7w3jqAY1vmVG3Ycjc5braM4MkMe9XBvSrpLmW%0AWS%2BFu5bPrA%3D%3D

and the rest of the walls in this http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/Coloured-Wallpaper/K2-Paisley-Wallpaper-PlumTaupe-10073/invt/0277092?htxt=pd7oFr0lQXt0zAhwWzfWeHMLQbwyUbQ%2BNPkCwOz7w3jqAY1vmVG3Ycjc5braM4MkMe9XBvSrpLmW%0AWS%2BFu5bPrA%3D%3D

We're thinking of getting black throws for our sofa, then get a nice cream carpet, with plum/purple accessories. Opinions are very welcome, thank you :) xx

Your Plan sounds good. You have enough things to decor your room only you need to get good ideas to set up every thing well. You can look here some ideas for decorating living room. Thx :)

Regardless of how big your room is, these two wallpapers in the same room are not cohesive at all,.as they represent two totally different design patterns and styles -- the first large floral wallpaper is contemporary and the second paisley design is traditional. I would select one or the other followed, by complimentary paint on the other walls or two wallpapers from the same collection. If you use these two wallpapers, the outcome will be somewhat chaotic and disjointed, I assure you.

Being an Interior Decorator who specializes in fabric elements of interior design, I have learned that a black throw is a magnet for every spec of fiber, whether it be dust, pet hair, rug fibers, clothing fibers or what have you. You can avoid this dilemma by selecting a high quality fabric for your throw along with avoiding any fabrics with a high pile. I love cream carpet and would go for it in a heartbeat if everyone in the house agrees to no shoes in the living room. 80% of floor dirt comes from shoes.

Shades of purple are the new trend in color design, so you should have no problem finding your plum accessories.

its a nice idea that you have already things planned on what you want to do. but when going for wall papers, make sure you buy the best ones and peeling and getting damp is one problem that causes home owners many problems..

make sure the cream carpet you get is plush and soft as only then it will give the desired effect that you are looking for, plum or purple is good color but make sure it doesnt get to bright as too bright purple can strain the eyes and you might be looking for a change sooner than you thought, the rest i guess is good, get some nice vases with artifical flowers to match the living room color scheme and to give it a homey touch,

Altho both papers are great they do not play nice together. The darker paper is dramatic and busy the lighter one is a bit eye crossing on a larger scale. What color are your sofas? I've done a mock up for you here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/44515431@N06/4370822496/

I have also done a different suggestion here http://www.flickr.com/photos/44515431@N06/4370851210/ And here http://www.flickr.com/photos/44515431@N06/4370865656/

If you choose the darker paper put it on your opposing shorter walls.

Just want to give you something to think about. As you know, wallpaper is expensive, that being said, once you put it up, it'll likely be there a Long time as taking it down is a big hassle. Since living room sofa's change every 5-7 years you will be forced to purchase it and all accessories to complement your wallpaper. I did my living room and had that problem. When I finally got tired of looking at the same design day in and day out I took it down and was SO happy to paint.
Just food for thought.

If you are looking for from one room to another effect, this is good and will work fine.
But if you want a full room effect, it won't work. Paper one side or whatever then paint the other a solid color with the waves in it or something on that effect, would even be nicer.
